Atmosphere
Our atmosphere is the place where all weather and climate takes place. It is the layer of gases that surround the Earth, and it protects the Earth from harmful materials. It also keeps in heat, and allows life to flourish on Earth. Pretty neat, huh? What's more, the atmosphere is divided into numerous layers. Read below for further information.
TroposphereThe troposphere is the lowest level of the atmosphere. It contains all the water vapor and suspended particles, furthermore, most of Earth's weather occurs here. Air is warmest near the ground, and as you increase altitude, it gets colder.
MesosphereThe air is relatively thin in this section of the atmosphere. Most meteors burn up in this area. The mesosphere separates the thermosphere from the stratosphere.

StratosphereIn the stratosphere, the temperature increases the higher you go, due to the presence of the Ozone Layer. The Ozone Layer absorbs harmful ultraviolet rays from sunlight to keep us safe from skin diseases. The stratosphere is also very dry, due to water vapor being almost nonexistent.
ThermosphereThis air is composed of thin air, which merges with space. It is very hot in this area, since gas molecules absorb solar radiation.

Ionosphere
The ionosphere is a region of charged particles that overlap the lower thermosphere. Molecules of nitrogen and oxygen lose electrons to absorb solar radiation. Auroras also appear in the ionosphere because when charged particles of the Sun are attracted to the Earth's magnetic poles, it causes the ions in the ionosphere to glow, showcasing an aurora.
