SOlar Energy And WindsWhen solar energy reaches Earth, three things could happen. The solar energy that reaches the atmosphere could reflect back into space, absorbed by the atmosphere, or absorbed by the Earth's surface. About 30% of the solar energy that tries to enter the atmosphere is reflected by clouds, dust particles in the air, and gases. 20% of the Sun's energy is absorbed by clouds or gases in the atmosphere. Wind is caused by the difference in air pressure. Larger pressure differences result in stronger winds.
